Sometimes it takes a public safety village.
On Wednesday (December 21), Cayce Victim Advocate/ Community Outreach Coordinator Juana Saavedra received a donation for two bikes to be purchased for two little girls who have never owned bikes.
Juana brought the donation to the Foundation and asked "Can you help make this happen?"
And we said "Absolutely!" and put Board Member Russ Shumard on the case (since he already has the Santa Claus beard) Thursday morning during Shop with a Cop.
Unfortunately, Walmart didn't have any smaller girl bikes that were already put together. Russ had to return to work but offered to put them together on Friday - SRO Daniel Green also said he could take them home and put them together.
But we found the perfect bike assemblers in the Cayce Fire Department's C Shift who put both bikes together yesterday and had them ready for Juana to take to the family by dinner time!
Thank you all for helping bring some Christmas magic to two little girls in our community!
